　　鲍勃（克里斯汀·史莱特 Christian Slater 饰）是一名常被忽视的公司小职员，独自生活领着微薄的工资，他讨厌公司里的每个人，但惟独对漂亮女同事维纳沙（伊丽莎·库斯伯特 Elisha Cuthbert 饰）情有独钟。他每天幻想着怎样射杀这些冷漠的同事和上司，但突然有一天清晨另一名同事先于他一步做了这些事情，不幸的是维纳沙也被误伤，为了救她鲍勃挺身而出，但是她还是永远不能站立了。一夜之间鲍勃变身了拯救公司的英雄，地位得到提升，但他所想的只是拯救落寞的维纳沙，可事情总不像表面那样，鲍勃的生活变好了但他内心还有许多潜藏的不安，维纳沙表面清纯其实内心沧桑。最终，鲍勃走上了另一条不归路。
