　　温蒂（达科塔·范宁 Dakota Fanning 饰）自幼患有自闭症，又不幸失去了父母，姐姐将她送进了特殊教育学校，希望她在那里能够锻炼出在这个社会独立生存的基本能力。实际上，不善与人交流的温蒂拥有异常丰富的精神世界以及出色的文笔，校长斯科蒂（托妮·科莱特 Toni Collette 饰）意外的发现温蒂竟然创作出了一个非常出色的剧本。
