　　伊格·佩西斯（丹尼尔·雷德克里夫 Daniel Radcliffe 饰）和梅琳·威廉姆斯（朱诺·坦普尔 Juno Temple 饰）是一对自幼青梅竹马的男女朋友，但在一年前的某天，他们的人生发生了翻天覆地的巨变。两人在森林里约会时，梅琳被人残忍杀害。在此之后伊格作为犯罪嫌疑人遭到警方调查，不过最终他被无罪释放。重获自由身的伊格对梅琳久久无法忘怀，而来自周遭的谴责和质疑更让其痛不欲生。在哀悼梅琳的夜晚，伊格恼羞成怒，做出亵渎神明的举动。次日一早，他惊讶地发现自己长出一对魔鬼的角，而且似乎凡是接近他的人都会变的举止古怪，当彼此接触后更会窥见对方的内心世界。
