天神宙斯的女儿，九位缪思女神之一的琪拉，私自下凡，帮助一个不得志的艺术家桑尼，她的美貌与歌舞才华，带给桑尼很大的灵感，也让桑尼爱上了她，她甚至安排桑尼跟一个富商丹尼见面。喜爱40年代爵士歌舞的丹尼，收藏了很多珍贵的老唱片，桑尼赫然发现，行踪总是无比神秘的琪拉，竟然很像是丹尼的老唱片里面的演唱歌手之一。丹尼发现了桑尼潜在的才华，慨然愿意投资，帮助他开办一间夜总会。
正当夜总会即将开幕的时候，琪拉却向桑尼坦白了自己缪思女神的身份，她私自下凡，不能久留，必须返回天庭桑尼苦苦哀求她留下，同样爱上桑尼的琪拉也恳求父亲，准许自己在人间多留一天，可惜没有获准。开幕当晚，琪拉突然跟自己的姊姊们出现，曼妙的歌舞，使得夜总会造成轰动，可是女神们随即又飞回天上去了。桑尼非常伤心，丹尼安慰着他，请他喝酒尽管桑尼拒绝，女服务生还是送酒过来。尽管桑尼拒绝，女服务生还是送酒过来。桑尼抬头一看，大为惊喜，原来，那正是琪拉，显然天神受到了两人的真情感动，终于答应让琪拉回到人间，与桑尼长相厮守，幸福快乐、直到永远。
