　　该片根据真实故事改编，主人公Thomas Montgomery（Garrett Dillahunt）是一个已婚的中年男人，有两个女儿，平日里工作认真、循规蹈矩。因为生活过于乏味，Thomas迷恋上了网络赌博和网上聊天。在一次扑克赌博游戏中，一个网名叫做「Talhotblond」的陌生人主动与他聊天。对方自称是一位年仅18岁的妙龄少女，Thomas决定用假身份来蒙骗她－－他自称是名叫「Tommy」的年轻士兵。他们从普通聊天逐渐发展为网恋，并最终产生性迷恋。Thomas的妻子Carol（Laura San Giacomo）根据他最近的反常行为发现了他的「小秘密」。为了结束Thomas的荒唐网恋，Carol将他的实情全都告诉了那个「Talhotblond」，希望对方能主动结束这段关系。「Talhotblond」对Thomas的谎言很是气愤，她开始在网上勾引Thomas的同事Brian，引起了Thomas的强烈嫉妒。最终……引发了一起可怕的谋杀案。来自《老友记》和《熟女镇》的Courteney Cox担任该片的导演，这是她首度担任长片导演。
